- Friction (examples: fire strikers, stick and hole, cotton with wood cole, )
- Compression (examples: fire piston, forged iron)
- Concentrating/focusing of sunlight in one point (examples: using lenses, mirrors, polished spoons, transparent plastic bags filled with clear water and shaped into lens form)
- Chemical reactions (examples: potassium permanganate and glycerine, mineral oils on rigs through polymerization and many others which produce enough heat to start a fire.
Some reactions expand explosively, stay ready and protected.
